Toulon, a military harbor in the South of France, served as a significant naval base since the  Napoleonic era. The surrounding mountains are crowned with forts, some have stood for 200 years. These remnants, like cyclopes of an endless conflict, remain motionless, oblivious to the passage of time, still expecting a war that will never arrive.
